As per The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (“Law”), all organizations with 10 or more employees are mandated to constitute an Internal Committee. In line with the Supreme Court judgment in the case of Aureliano Fernandes v. The State of Goa, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, has created an online portal called She-Box. While the She-Box portal is periodically updated, relying on notifications from regulatory bodies such as SEBI and NSE, there is a requirement for organizations to register on She-Box.
The She-Box website states the following:
“To ensure seamless registration and monitoring, only the Nodal Officer of the Head Office of a company/organization/workplace (if it has multiple offices/branches) is authorized to register on the portal initially. Upon registration by the Nodal Officer of the workplace, the same will get verified by the District Nodal Officer (DNO). Once the DNO verifies the credentials of the Nodal Officer, the portal’s hierarchical design enables the registered Nodal Officer of the Head Office to:
- Add subordinate offices/departments/branches
- Create login credentials for them
This facilitates centralized monitoring.”
Who Can Be a Nodal Officer?
The Nodal Officer can be any individual within your organization who has access to essential documents, such as the policy, annual report, and IC-related information. This role is organizational and not necessarily tied to the IC. It is not mandatory for an IC member to be the Nodal Officer. You may appoint someone outside the IC if that is more practical. We also recommend using a common email ID for the Nodal Officer, such as a compliance or legal ID, or creating a new ID specifically for this purpose.

The Nodal Officer will be responsible for monitoring the SHe-Box. The Nodal Officer will have login credentials specifically made for the portal to ensure proper monitoring and oversight of complaints submitted via the platform.
As per the official website, the SHe-Box is designed as a portal for women to submit complaints related to sexual harassment at the workplace. Once a complaint is submitted, it is sent directly to the authority concerned that has jurisdiction to address the matter. This means that SHe-Box itself serves as a point of registration for complaints, but it is not where the complaints will be addressed. The respective Internal Committee of the concerned organization will look into the complaints for further action.

This role includes tasks such as keeping track of logins, updating the portal with required details, and directing complaints to the respective Internal Committees for inquiries. The term “organizational role” refers to the NO’s responsible for overseeing the portal and ensuring the proper flow of complaints to the IC and updating the portal and authorities on information , when and if sought.
The details required for submitting a complaint include the complainant's name, mobile number, and workplace name.
