Interim Orders Validity Extended

Kerala High Court Further Extends Validity of All Interim Orders Till June 29th Amidst Continuing Lockdown Restrictions

On 14th June 2021, The Kerala High Court issued extension to the interim orders till 29th June 2021. The previous interim orders were till 16th June 2021, with citing the inability to conduct normal court proceedings keeping in view the increase in COVID 19. It is the second suo motu petition, the first was registered in the year 2020 which prayed extending of child custody and interim orders.

When the Lockdown period got over last year and the situation was improving in the country, the court disposed the suo motu petitions that permitted the aggrieved person to proceed with the applications which are pending. But in the year 2021, when the positivity rate increased the state government declared a second phase lockdown till the 9th June 2021. This decision again led to disruption of the normal proceedings of the tribunals and the courts. Thus this suo motu writ petition was filed to extend the interim orders granted by the court.

Taking in account the current situation, the Court has now thereby extended the validity of the said interim orders till 29th June 2022. The next hearing is on 28th June 2021.
